[Ju-Ni] is looking for dedicated individuals to fill the following positions (listed in order of priority/need).
To apply for any of these positions, you can either:
- Send an e-mail to vicissitude [at] ju-ni.net
- Send a private message, on our forums, to Vicissitude
- Hop into our IRC channel (#Ju-Ni on irc.IRCHighway.net)
Note: When contacting us, please mention the exact position(s) you are applying for, which of our projects you would prefer to work on, and any relevant information that you think we should know (e.g. previous experience in editing/translating).
If you have what it takes, see the requirements below for the respective positions, simply give it a try. You will be given a small test based on your choice which we will evaluate. Don’t worry; it doesn’t need to be perfect, but it does need to show promise and be representative of the type of work you will do for Ju-Ni.
Some disclaimers:
- Be patient as the current staff must discuss and evaluate your application.
- If you do not meet the EXACT requirements listed, but have some experience, apply anyways. If you are willing to learn, be patient, and learn our methodology, you will be more than welcome.
- Applicants must be ages 16 or over and be on good terms (or rather not be on bad terms) with us and our affiliates. If you apply and we happen to find out that you are/were doing inappropriate things in other places, we will remove you from the team.
- Must have a positive attitude and be well prepared for the responses you get.
Translator
You will fill the following roles, listed in order of importance.
- Translator for Azumanga Daioh or Busou Renkin
- Substitute translator for Bleach weeklies should our current translator be unable to perform his duties
- Translation checking/proofreading on Bleach weeklies
Experience: Literacy in Hiragana/Katakana, and some Kanji knowledge. We’re generally looking for people with AT LEAST 2 years (4 semesters) classroom experience and English as their native tongue. Any actual experience in practical usage of the language is a huge bonus. Must also be proficient with using dictionaries to look up words.
Cleaner
Cleaners should meet the following requirements
- Be able to take 2 or 3 pages of RAW Bleach each week and clean it at a reasonable speed to conform with Ju-Ni standards. This usually requires 2-4 hours and you will generally have around 24-30 hours to accomplish this each week. Generally, you will have from Friday Evening until Sunday Afternoon (EST, adjust for local timezone) to accomplish this.
- Fluency with Photoshop. Previous experience is a must (not necessarily cleaning), and any previous cleaning experience is a bonus (Please list group/s you are currently or have worked with). No exceptions to this rule will be made.
- You may also be asked to work on Bleach back volumes. These are much easier and on a much more relaxed time scale, but your main task will be cleaning weekly Bleach to conform with Ju-Ni standards.
- If you have cleaned before, please feel free to submit examples of your work to us. If you have copies of the raw that you cleaned from, submit those as well.
