File names

Postby zeta1 » Fri Jun 19, 2009 6:03 pm

Ok, this is a minor issue, just thought I'd put it up as a suggestion: since the server migration and format change of the website the releases seem to have changed file naming format, for example, previously chapter 323 would be named "[Ju-Ni]bleach_ch323" but now it's "ju-ni_bleach_ch323" and the Spanish release (if it existed) "ju-ni_bleach_ch323_esp". How about naming it with a combination of all 3 formats? In this case it'd give something like:
"[Ju-Ni]bleach_ch323_eng" - indicating both language and release group in a better marked file name.

Ok, probably wrote too much for a very minor issue but its all to make each release absolutely perfect starting with the name itself (the contents are already at a hard to beat level anyway  ).

One part of your question is quickly explained ...

As the download manager plug-in does not like the squared brackets, and automatically transforms capitals into lower-case, we had to change the "[Ju-Ni]bleach..." into ju-ni_bleach..." - terribly sorry for that.

I am sure that this could be solved, but hacking around in the code of the plug-in just causes the problem to do the same modifications at every update ... and that plug updates quite frequently.

As for the English/Spanish filename thing ... we better let Vic speak here as this was his idea ...

Yep, it was mine. For the English releases, there's no need to change the filename, since we release in English by default. So I just needed to differentiate the Spanish releases. That's why the Spanish releases have _esp at the end of them. And ju-ni_ starts the filename, so you know you're getting it from us anyway.
